Barbie Sonnett Sculpture
Whimsical Ceramic Sculpture
Barbie Sonnett grew up loving animals, particularly horses. She expressed her interest by drawing them and riding them through college and a commercial career with an advertising agency.
In the early 1970s, she and her husband Steve purchased their Maplewood Farm in Southern Maryland. While raising two sons, numerous Thoroughbred hunters, Collies and Corgis, she also discovered and became involved with fox hunting and sculpting with ceramic clay.
Hunting on her Thoroughbred mare, Charade, provided inspiration for her whimsical one-of-a-kind sculptured portrayals of foxhunting themes. Barbie chose the Washington D.C. International Horse Show, held annually since 1958, as her only selling outlet for 20 years.
Since 2000 she has been selling exclusively on eBay, seller ID: sonnettsculpture.
